Travelling to Europe – Know Where You Can Travel During Covid 19

If you’re looking to travel primarily around Europe, this post offers insights into where you can go keeping in mind the current circumstances. We have also provided an idea of the guidelines and requirements so you can be prepared.

1. Croatia

While fully vaccinated passengers with a negative PCR test report are permitted to travel into Croatia, the government is advising everyone not to visit Croatia as the number of Covid cases are rising drastically. However, when things to look better on the pandemic front, Croatia is a fascinating place to visit as it is full of natural wonders.  It has beaches that change shape based on wind direction, it apparently enjoys 2715 hours of sunshine every year and has over 1200 little islands to visit. The old town of Dubrovnik has been called the jewel of the Adriatic and, is also where the Kings Landing scenes in Game of Thrones were shot.

2. Iceland

Iceland has currently restricted travel from all countries identified as risk zones, i.e.,having more than 1000 cases per 100,000 of the population. For others, a PCR negative certificate is required within 72 hours before departure from one’s home country and again upon landing. While people who are fully vaccinated may be exempted, be prepared for quarantine and other restrictions upon entry.

Once in Iceland, all your efforts will be well worth it. From being able to witness the Northern Lights to walking through the quaint old towns, all the various sites in the country are an absolute delight.

3. Romania

Similar restrictions apply upon travel to Romania as the guidelines for Croatia. However, as the number of Covid -19 cases are steadily rising, it is advisable to wait before traveling here.

Romania is a land of fantastic inventions and apparently it is home to seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. They are not far behind in modern infrastructure either; besides a great rail system, their Transfagarasan highway is declared by some, to be the best driving road in the world. If you like a good cup of coffee or enjoy a regular drink, you should definitely visit because you’ll fit right in.

4. France

France has a fairly complicated set of policies and restrictions with respect to entry. Though travel to and from France is discouraged and even prohibited in certain cases, some can enter upon submitting a negative PCR test taken 72 hours prior to departure from your home country. However, you must be prepared for health checks and also to self-isolate for 7 days, upon entry.

The circumstances may not permit you to enjoy all of the French luxuries, but there’s no denying that there’s some things they do better than anyone else. Some of the highlights of being in France include; cheese, shopping and trains that are faster than planes. And this is besides of course all the wonderful museums and sites to see.

5. Serbia

Serbia too has introduced restrictions similar to Romania and Croatia. While most visitors are required to bring a negative PCR test 48 hours before departure, it is best to check about updated policies, protocol and exemptions when you are in the process of finalising plans.

While France has its cheese, wine and other delicacies, Serbia is known for its brandy(rakija), kilims (carpets) and for being home to one of our greatest inventors; Nikola Tesla. If you happen to be visiting, make sure to start in the capital city of Belgrade. The country has some stunning monuments and museums that reveal fascinating snippets of History and some spectacular natural wonders that will surely steal your heart away.

While Italy, Poland, Cyprus and Greece had also opened their borders totourism, they have recently amended their policies. Certain nationalities may not be permitted if they are classified as high-risk zones and others may need to quarantine. As circumstances are changing fairly frequently, it is best to check about protocol, restrictions and exemptions that will be listed on the official government/ tourism websites of the country that you wish to visit.
